Thank you so much for your help with "Operation Milk Supply" Fiona! Although we are not completely off of formula yet, we've gone from 16oz a day to at most 4oz. That's a 75% drop! But most importantly our son's intestinal issue are going away and he is a much happier baby. I could not have done it with out your coaching and encouragement. I will be giving you a call when I get pregnant with my next child.

Fiona became our post-birth doula after I moved to Abu Dhabi recently. Whilst my husband was initially doubtful of the whole 'Doula' offering, he now appreciates the service, particularly for first time parents in the Middle East where you dont have family to assist you. Having only just moved to Abu Dhabi, Fiona also helped me settled into town, assisted with putting me in touch with other pregnant ladies and helping recruit a maid... essentially make my new life easier and happier with my new babies. I called her my 'pregnancy/baby guardian angel' to my friends and family. My parents were also relieved that we had Fiona in our life to assist us, as they couldnt be here during our challenging time.Fiona, was exactly the type of person I needed to help me through our challenging birth/delivery and home-coming (delivered twins by emergency c-section at 28 weeks with the twins requiring NICU care for 7 weeks). She was the perfect balance of providing the support and advice that I needed to deal with my difficult delivery, and ensure my husband and I were prepared emotionally and physically for their home-coming. 

I also attribute my ability to express breastmilk and quickly develop a good supply down to Fiona. She gave me the confidence to ask all the right questions at the hospital before leaving. I would have never have known what to ask and how far to push the nurses to ensure I received the information and education on breast feeding.

I would recommend Fiona to anyone who is a first time Mum or is not familiar with giving birth in the Middle East. She is extremely knowledgeable, caring, thoughtful, friendly and always goes way beyond her duties to ensuring that giving birth or being a new Mum so much easier, stress free as possible. I thank Fiona for everything she has done for my family, and wish her all the best in the future. I have known Fiona Vaughan in a professional capacity for some years. 

Through this contact I felt confident in electing her services to be at the birth of my daughter.

 Fiona been an Occupational Therapist and knowing the level of standards she expected of herself and of others I felt more then confident that I would be in safe hands.

 This was my second child and I was determined that I was going to be as pain free as possible, and indicated from the start that I wanted an epidural, I knew Fiona would ensure this would happen and no delays.

 I cant really put into words what it meant to have Fiona with me during the birth of my daughter—she was with me at home ,when I went into labour she then took me to the hospital and I knew I could just relax and she would take care of everything.

 She is a very caring women who just loves to help everyone and nothing is too hard, the care and the love she shows for both yourself and your newborn is as though she is family and it is very reassuring.

 I have no hesitation in recommending Fiona to anyone who is going through the birth process either for the first or second time, she is an absolute treasure to have with you.

Fiona talked me through all the issues and procedures and was very informative. She visited my home several times and also came to an emergency appointment with me at 7am. At the birth she said all the right things and coached me through the whole process. She left her Christmas dinner to be with us for the birth. The baby was three weeks early.

 

She was very good with helping me with breastfeeding. She came to my house to coach me with feeding the baby. Fiona also showed me how to bath the baby in a very simple way. She has also been very helpful and supportive generally. Her strengths are her confidence, knows her stuff, also ensures that the doctor and patient are respected. If I had another child then I would employ Fiona again.

 

Fiona knows the local system very well. she also knows the doctors and fully grasps the local culture which is very helpful. Fionas character is very likeable and she knows how to get on with people, even in a difficult place like Abu Dhabi.

You have a special gift in educating and caring for people and we are very grateful that you shared it with us. Having a doula is one of the best decisions we made over this incredible experience. Living away from our families and dealing with hosiptals in Abu Dhabi concerned us and we were overwhelmed initially. As soon as we met you we felt relaxed knowing we have someone we can count on. You educated us to become happy first time parents. You guided us through so many things in a caring and very professional manner. Two months post delivery, our experience of pregnancy is such a positive one, in part because you always attentively listened to our needs and anxieties. I had a calm and exciting mind during labour. I don’t think there are enough words to express our gratitude for all you have done for us both before and after the birth of our son. You have been with us every step of the way throughout the pregnancy and beyond, supporting, giving a fresh perspective and keeping me calm when baby was very overdue! Having a doula was important to me as my experience with my first son was tinged with regret and I didn’t feel in control of the decision making during my labour. And even though I didn’t get the natural labour I so desired this time, I feel positive about the whole experience and you helped with that enormously. You have helped me in so many ways since Issam was born: helping me to establish breastfeeding successfully, listening to my concerns in the first few days and helping me adapt to being a mum of two. Fiona was the most helpful to me during the birth. She acted as an emotional and physical support not only to me but also to my husband and my mother who flew from Australia to attend the birth. I really do not think I could have done it without her assistance and support. The delivery and birth ended up being quite traumatic for both my husband and I as I ended up having an emergency c- section after quite a long labor. Fiona was the calm amongst the storm. She made sure we were updated as to what was going on and why it was happening, she also made sure that I was comfortable, calm and focused.

 

Her strengths were her dedication to her client, her amazing ability to bring calm and focus to any situation and her down to earth personality that instantly made me feel very comfortable.
